Oppo does not want to miss the opportunity to integrate artificial intelligence tools into its smartphones. In the latest trademark application filed by Oppo, the names “AndesGPT” and “AndesAI” were registered. This shows that the company wants to expand its presence in the AI assistant space.
Oppo work on AndesGPT-based Xiaobu Assistant
AndesGPT, developed by Oppo’s sub-development team Andes Intelligent Cloud, will serve as a large language model (LLM). The Chinese manufacturer had previously worked on a language model called OBERT. This model reportedly achieved remarkable success in the Chinese language comprehension benchmark.
Leveraging the experience gained from OBERT, AndesGPT is focusing on Chinese in the first phase. The development phase includes key technologies such as dialog data, instructions, human feedback and knowledge development.
Finally, the trademark application for AndesGPT and AndesAI shows that it will be a competitor in the digital assistant market. Although the company has not yet made an official statement on this issue, it seems to be quite compatible with artificial intelligence studies.
In April, the company announced a partnership with Alibaba Cloud to develop artificial intelligence technologies. This collaboration will allow it to enter the artificial intelligence market for smartphones after withdrawing from the chip market.
Xiaobu Assistant, powered by AndesGPT, is expected to be available to some users soon. The capabilities of this model, which is expected to surpass Siri and Google Assistant for Chinese, are unclear for now.
